Exercise first thing in the morning

Do your exercises first thing in the morning. You can then go through the rest of the day knowing that you have done something just for you – not work, family or friends!

Positive lifestyle is a journey

Remember that leading a positive lifestyle is an ongoing journey. Along the process expect to have good times and bad times in terms of confidence or motivation. If you remember this, you can quickly get back on track.

20 minutes will change your life

Even a 20-minute workout will give you a sense of accomplishment and leave you feeling revitalised. Always start slowly to warm the body properly in order to reduce the risk of muscle strain and have a set time planned before you work out – preferably by using a stopwatch or other timer.

Start with easy exercises

Find exercises that you find easy to do – exercise is all about momentum and consistency. Build these two things and then add more difficult exercises to your routine or extend the workouts gradually over time.

The extra key to getting motivated

For added motivation, buy yourself some new workout gear. Looking good will boost your confidence and will get you more in the mood to workout and be seen – remember the motivation builds after action is taken.

Do not measure your progress against anyone else. Be your own yard stick – how much have you progressed over the past six weeks? Not been training for six weeks? Then keep going until you hit the six-week mark, and then review.
